By Brenessa Roach | August 7, 2026
On Friday, August 7, 2026, South Korean indie-rock trio wave to earth released their highly anticipated second full-length album, bad pieces.
Consisting of vocalist and guitarist Daniel Kim, bassist John Cha, and drummer Dong Q, wave to earth first debuted on August 23, 2019, with their single “wave” Since then, the trio has become known for their dreamy indie-rock sound and emotionally resonant songwriting.
bad pieces marks the band’s first release in two years following their 2024 EP, play with earth! 0.03. The 11-track album explores the acceptance of an imperfect world, with each member embracing the idea that they, too, are “clumsy and unlovely pieces.”
The album’s title draws inspiration from the iconic “Bed Peace” sign displayed behind John Lennon and Yoko Ono during their 1969 Bed-In for Peace, reimagining the bed as a sanctuary amid the chaos of an imperfect world. Reflecting on the concept, vocalist and guitarist Daniel Kim shared, “We felt like John and Yoko were having a state of peace within their bed, and I felt like that had a lot of similarities with our music.”
Alongside the album, wave to earth also unveiled the official music video for its title track, “courage,” a modern reinterpretation of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Bed-In protest.
The project also marks an important milestone for the trio, as it is the first wave to earth album to feature original songs written by all three members. Inspired by The Beatles, bad pieces showcases the band’s collective creative vision while continuing to evolve their signature sound.
