Welcome back to our B-Side Rituals Spotlight series!

In honour of February and Black History Month, we’re spotlighting an incredible artist we recently discovered on TikTok: a.jené (pronounced aye–jah–neigh), an LA-based singer-songwriter whose sound feels both intimate and expansive.

a.jené made her debut on June 28, 2019, with the single “Bout It.” which was in collaboration with Erik Cain. Since then, she has been releasing music blending R&B, soul, alternative, and pop. Later that year, on November 21, 2019, she released her debut album Instability. , marking the beginning of her journey.

We were first drawn to her through TikTok while she was promoting her latest single, “Arms.”, released on January 14, 2026. The track immediately stood out as her vocals are smooth yet expressive, and her songwriting is very personal and purposeful.

With 8.7K monthly listeners on Spotify and growing, a.jené is definitely an artist to watch in 2026 and beyond.
